Landscaping in Oak Leaf, Texas

Oak Leaf is wooded, and that shapes most of what we get called out for. Trees here are large and many have been left to their own devices for decades, so clearance pruning over roofs and driveways, thinning dense crowns and taking out deadwood make up a good share of the work. Underneath them, the planting problem is a real one: heavy shade on clay soil rules out most of what garden centres push, and beds that were planted without accounting for it tend to be thin and patchy within two seasons. Done properly, the trees are the asset rather than the obstacle. Thinning a canopy sensibly gets light to the ground and makes the planting underneath viable, and lighting used well in a wooded lot does more after dark than almost anything else we install.
